Understanding the vehicle configuration
The classic Defender should be distinguished from the modern Defender. Land Rover changed its engine: the 2.4-litre diesel was replaced by a 2.2-litre engine from the 2012 model year. The vehicle’s year therefore identifies the correct specifications. Also check seats, storage, air conditioning and sleeping capacity for the proposed vehicle. The Defender is offered for Masai Mara itineraries, as is the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Jimny is not offered for this destination.
What type of trip is it suited to?
The Defender suits trips with more luggage, camping setups and travellers who appreciate a high driving position. We always check that the chosen configuration matches the actual passenger count.
- Multi-day self-drive safari
- Camping and rooftop tent
- Travel as a couple, with friends or as a family
- Itinerary including tracks
Configuration and equipment
Equipment may vary between vehicles. Your proposal clearly specifies seats, sleeping capacity, camping equipment and available options to avoid surprises at departure.
Self-drive or driver-guide
You can drive yourself after the briefing or request a driver-guide. The second option suits travellers who want to focus on wildlife, avoid navigating or benefit from detailed local knowledge.
